Francis
28 year old black Percheron gelding, adopted by Cindy from Pets Alive Sanctuary in NY September 2009. Francis spent 12 years as a carriage horse in New York City. He is an absolutely delightful horse, a total momma’s boy and has special needs regarding his legs and feet.
25 year old bay Standardbred mare--adopted with Francis by Cindy from Pets Alive Sanctuary in NY September 2009. Mary was also a carriage horse in NYC and before that most likely on the race track, as she does have an illegible lip tattoo. Mary is a lovely mare, a joy to be around and has formed a deep bond with Cindy.
Willie
31 year old chestnut Quarter Horse gelding. Willie arrived at Ferrell Hollow Farm December 2004 and is our oldest resident! His owner lives in Massachusetts and due to advancing arthritis, feared the New England winters were too harsh for him. So she found us and sent him South—which has certainly agreed with him! Willie marches to beat of his own drum, and we joke he leads a pampered life, always getting what he wants, so why should it be any different during his retirement!
Tess
28 year old black Thoroughbred mare arrived in September 2007 and has been with her owner since she was a yearling! Tess was my gelding Haley’s faithful companion since her arrival and is a wonderful and elegant mare. She has had Cushing’s for 8 years but otherwise is a very happy horse!
Maggie
30 year old black Quarter Horse came in October 2007 and joined Tess and Haley’s herd upon arrival. Maggie is a sweet little thing, adored by everyone. Her owner lives an hour away and still comes to visit her once a month!
Eagle
26 year old bay Quarter Horse gelding came to us in August 2009. He is tall, lanky and has the best disposition! He loves to talk any time he sees you and is a dream to work around. Eagle has both Cushing’s and Insulin Resistance, and I am convinced his positive attitude can carry him thru most any challenge presented!
Siegfried
22 year old white Percheron gelding adopted by Cindy in June 2011. A retired jousting horse from NY, Siegfried is a big boy standing right over 18 hands and weighing 2,200 lbs! He is laid back and sweet, living up to the term Gentle Giant!
Striker
20 year old black and white Spotted Saddle Horse gelding arrived October 2011. He is very people oriented and friendly. He has a chronic leg injury that will keep him unsound, however that does not slow him down. He is always ready for meals and attention!
