Despite the cold, dreary and rainy day, I still celebrated Maggie's "30th" birthday with her :) She is a very lovely black Quarter Horse mare who came to me 4 years ago when her owner was ready to retire her. Maggie is a very attractive mare, is fairly quiet and loves to eat! She is a hard keeper in the winter and very picky, but if you give her what she wants (within the allowable diet), she is very happy! ;) Today I made sure she got more than plenty of the low sugar/starch horse treats I buy for all of the horses each month. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner she had "cookies" and boy does she love her cookies. Even though it was misting rain, I still groomed and loved on her as she is shedding and has a few select itchy spots! Her constant companion, Willie, was demanding and wanted at least as much attention as Maggie was getting. Of course I obliged--he got groomed and was given treats too! Maggie's owner loves her dearly and visits her once a month. I really appreciate her entrusting me with her care--she is a joy to be around!
Willie, who is already 30, was happy to rest his chin on Maggie's back :)
